Há algum tempo tenho tentado compartilhar com colegas professores o quanto é importante estarmos bem preparados, tecnicamente e emocionalmente. O conceito de  T-shaped professional  me parece cada vez mais relevante para professores. It's always bothered me that teachers rarely discussed their careers. I didn't know that. I knew I was bothered by the constant complaints and no action, by the lack of professionalism in TEFL (I have to admit I contributed to it), the superficial view of the profession, the lack of self-professional-esteem. ... of reflections. Teachers on a strike The teachers' union in Brasilia are again in campaign for better salaries and work conditions. At least that's what they say. They are threatening the local government - and the population - with strike again. They are obviously free to use whatever instrument they see fit to reach their purposes. However, what deeply bothers me, is the fact that they claim to be forced by the government to go on a strike. Sorry. No one can be forced to go on a strike. If they do it, that's because they believe they have exhausted all possibilities of negotiation or protests and their last resource is to strike for better wages or work conditions. They must admit it, instead of blaming the government. The fact that teachers keep using the same tactics year after year makes me think that the strikes are totally political. I've always believed in processes and I tended to criticize the ones who thought that the facts of life were instantaneous. Well, I decided to give it a little more thought and I found out that there is no opposite or antonym for process. By definition, a process is a series of actions directed or designed to produce a particular result. Well, it would be a blatant obviousness to say that everything is a process, because everything is in fact the result of a process. In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility. Ontem vi uma notícia do portal G1 sobre jovens que utilizam a internet para ensinar . Isso me deixou, mais uma vez, fascinado com todas as possibilidades, benefícios e oportunidades que a tecnologia e a internet podem trazer para a vida profissional, acadêmica e social de cada um de nós. Os jovens dessa notícia me lembraram Salman Khan, que criou a Khan Academy . Em 2004, ele começou a ensinar matemática para uma prima por meio de vídeos. Bom, caiu na graça da rede e já são milhares de aulas, além de exercícios, quizzes e ferramentas pedagógicas para professores. Os jovens da notícia são empreendedores admiráveis que ainda contribuirão muito para a educação. Essa história toda me fez refletir sobre educação profissional.
